Health State
A discrete clinical condition assigned to patients within a Markov or similar state-transition model.
Definition
A health state represents a distinct clinical or functional condition that a patient may occupy within a model. Each state is assigned a utility value (for QALY calculation), costs, and transition probabilities to other states. States must be mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive across the model structure.
